Overview & Highlights

If you find yourself wandering the historic streets of Toledo, Spain, prepare to indulge in a culinary experience at Restaurante La Orza. Nestled at C. de Descalzos, 5, this restaurant is a gem for both locals and travelers alike. With a reputation for exquisite flavors and a charming atmosphere, La Orza promises to elevate your dining experience.

The reviews are in, and they sing praises of the restaurant's standout dishes. Diners rave about the Rabo de Toro, a traditional oxtail dish that many describe as a must-try for its rich, savory notes. Customers appreciate the tender, flavorful preparation, although a few have noted that they would have loved a larger portion to savor. As Jozy mentions, it’s “some of the best Rabo de Toro you'll ever have!”

Next, let’s dive into the artistic presentations that have left many pleasantly surprised. The small but vibrant portions of the apple gazpacho and raspberry salmorejo have been described as "pieces of art." This is not just dining; it's a tasting event that engages all your senses. Alex Tartakovsky highlights the inventive touch of dishes paired with unique ingredients such as celery ice cream, ensuring an unforgettable experience on your palate.

When you visit, don’t skip the chance to try the mazapan, or marzipan, a dessert native to Toledo. Guests have described La Orza’s version of this delicious almond paste cake as a “hit,” often coming back for seconds. The culinary creativity extends to the wine selection, where their house Tempranillo, known as Panofino, is both superb and reasonably priced—perfectly complementing the flavorful dishes.

The atmosphere at La Orza is just as noteworthy. Outside seating offers a delightful view of Toledo, especially on a sunny day, as recounted by Nicolas Rincon. Enjoying your meal in such a picturesque setting adds to the overall experience. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and excited to share their culinary passion, making your visit even more enjoyable.

In short, Restaurante La Orza is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates exceptional food blending tradition with innovation. Each dish is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Toledo, encapsulated in a setting that is warm and inviting. Whether you are seated indoors or on the terrace, your taste buds are in for a lively adventure that showcases the best of local and seasonal ingredients. Make sure to book a table—this spot is not to be missed!

Some of the best Rabo de Toro you'll ever have! Delicious, would have appreciated a bit of a larger portion, but it was amazing. I docked 1 star as their online reservation system was difficult to use. I put in my credit card to secure the reservation but their system wasn't authorizing anything so I couldn't tell, did we have a reservation/ did we not?? Went over to the restaurant and they said no availability inside (online said they had some options) but we could sit on the terrace if we wanted. That worked well for us, it was a beautiful night and our waiter was so fun! The house marzipan - yum

Fantastic tasting buds experience! If you're really hungry (hard to imagine at 36°C at 8:30pm), this is not a place for you, as the portions are relatively small. Otherwise, each meal was fantastic. Apple (!) gazpacho/ raspberry (!) salmorejo with celery (!) ice-cream was tiny and a piece of art. Partridge, venison, pig cheeks, aged beef were all top notch (beef was a relatively big portion). Ponche Toledano, a layered mazapan cake with gold decoration was a hit, we just had to encore it for everyone. Mazapan is translated as Marzipan on the English menu, but is different from caramelized fruits in Italy (or, say, Seville): mazapan is an almond paste cake or cookie in Toledo. For wine, we had Panofino, the house Tempranillo, and it was superb (and a steal). Going to have another La Orza dinner tomorrow.

My family came here for a Sunday lunch. The food was delicious. We had the duck breast and oxtail. The duck breast was juicy, tender, and packed full of flavor. Also, everyone loved their rendition of oxtail. They were very savory and melted in your mouth. Highly recommend if you're in Toledo. Check this place out!

Very pleasant Michelin star surprise in Toledo. Excellent service, great food, reasonable prices - the sunny weather and some wine made it amazing experience :)

During our day trip to Toledo last year, we had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante La Orza, and it was an unforgettable experience. We sat outside on a sunny November day, which was perfect for enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We ordered the Solomillo de Vaca and the Rape con habitas y arroz negro, both of which were exceptional. The highlight of the meal was the unique tomato sorbet with ice cream for dessert—an incredible and unforgettable combination that we haven’t found anywhere else since. The local beer was also a great touch. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Toledo. It’s a must-visit spot that combines amazing food with a great atmosphere!

June 27, 2025. Must visit this restaurant when visiting Toledo. Tried five different appetizers including artichoke w/ octopus, apple gazpacho, potato salad, tomato salad, cured pork with aged cheese ice cream -- all amazing! The venison entree blew us away! The pig cheek stew and suckling pig were also excellent. We liked the food so much that we ordered "one of everything" from the dessert menu. Yummy!

We visited Toledo, Spain on May 5th, 2025, and had lunch at Restaurante La Orza. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet corner just a few minutes from Mirador de Toledo, a fantastic viewpoint for capturing the city’s beauty. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening, but the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. They offered us water and even invited us in to charge our phones while we waited—such thoughtful hospitality! We ordered Lomo de Orza, Fideuá y vieiras, Cochinillo, and Delicias de Mazapán. Every dish was excellent, but the standout for us was the Lomo de Orza, which we were told was made with deer meat. The dish had deep, layered flavors that made it our favorite of the meal—truly memorable. Overall, we were very impressed. Restaurante La Orza is a must-visit when in Toledo. Highly recommended!
